with artist Helen Jackson

Monday 8th to Thursday 11th July

10am – 4pm

EDS Studio, 4 Thistle Street North West Lane

In this 4 day drawing and painting workshop, we will be looking at the work of Scottish artist Victoria Crowe.

We will begin with a slide show of painting and drawings by Crowe in the studio and a discussion of her work.

In the afternoon we will go to the exhibition of Victoria Crowe's work at the City Art Centre which will provide an opportunity to study her work in situ doing transcriptions

On day two, we will go to the Botanical Gardens and sketch various plant forms and flowers, and trees and in the afternoon we will draw a portrait from the model

On days three and four, we will be in the studio we will combine the drawings created over the last three days to make a composite painting in the style of Victoria Crowe

We will be using a variety of different media including pencil, mono-prints, collage
and acrylic paint to produce a painting that celebrates the light in Scotland: a
crylics marry the transparency and flow of watercolour, and with the glazing potential of acrylic, they allow a clarity of texture and a richness of tone unsurpassed in either medium.
