This ten week online course is designed for adults who want to re-connect with their hidden talent: drawing is fun and ‘mistakes’ are encouraged!
The course is suitable for complete beginners or those who have had some previous experience and wish to enhance their skills.
With individual and group tuition, support and tutor demonstrations , these will be available by zoom and e mail.
We will start with basics, exploring various drawing techniques, mark making, developing personal styles and creative process from simple sketches, to creative compositions, definitive detail or abstraction.
You will be encouraged to embrace a range of approaches using various drawing materials and working on different paper surfaces. You can incorporate annotation, shapes, form and create textures while experimenting with various techniques and using a diverse range of media to build a portfolio of exciting drawings
Included in this course are an introduction to scale, proportion, perspective, composition, line and tone , sketching and observation techniques.
We will be working initially with pencils and these will be used throughout the course so we recommend a set of drawing pencils (these come in different leads e.g.HB, H, 4B etc)
Cartridge paper (A3 cartridge pad is ideal)
charcoal (these come in various forms from traditional willow sticks; to soft pastel or compressed)
Putty rubber / Eraser
Masking tape can be used to affix individual sheets of paper to a drawing board
Hairspray (unperfumed) works effectively as a fixative spray to stop drawings from smudging
