with artist and tutor Louise Wilde

Saturday 7th March from 10.00am - 4.00pm

Drawing can offer “a means to access and process thoughts, work through ideas and understandings, and release intuitive gestures and feelings” (Jack Southern - ‘Drawing Projects p.8).

Within this one day course we will explore a range of approaches to observational and imaginative drawing and mark-making, offering students a tangible way to experiment with and develop alternative creative possibilities.

Additionally we will look at a range of drawing techniques adopted by relevant artists.

We will work through a series of intensive drawing projects including:

  • Experimenting with monochromatic drawing tools and methods

  • Continuous line

  • Eye and hand synchronicity (‘blind’ contour drawing)

  • Memory drawing

  • Gesture

  • Superimposed drawing

  • Negative space

  • Additive and subtractive tone

  • Drawing sound
