with artist and tutor Paul Mowat

Sunday 1st March from 10.00am - 4.00pm

EDS Studio, 4 Thistle Street NW Lane, EH2 1DR

From Dürer to Dumas, artists have found people, and the portrait in particular, to be a source that is both inspirational and challenging.

This one day, intensive workshop will encourage students to work instinctively and directly with a range of tools and a variety of techniques to produce a series of studies of the human head.

We will work on a number of poses to encourage expressive mark making while exploring colour, tone and composition.

During the workshop the tutor will reference relevant artists, demonstrate technique and teach on a one to one basis.

Techniques explored in the workshops will include monotype, drawing and painting. Areas covered to include tone, colour, composition, line, mark-making expression and basic anatomy.
