Service Description

This course is suitable for all levels; beginners welcome. This course is for those looking to explore and develop their acrylic painting. It would be handy to have a little knowledge of some of the basics, including colour mixing. During the course students will be working in the studio from a still life set up to produce pleasing paintings, working on developing their composition and style. Later on in the term students will have an opportunity to paint a clothed model. With tips on technique and short demos from artist and tutor Jaya Cauchy Ogilvie, students will develop in confidence over the term. Materials List • Surface canvas, paper/s, boards cartridge paper heavy, or wooden board! Experiments with surface will be explored. • A set of student or artist quality paints eg system primary and some secondary colours. Try if you can to have two types of primary colours (ie warm and cold). Colours including: cadmium red & Windsor red (or similar), cadmium yellow & lemon yellow, ultramarine & cerulean blue, titanium white, black, raw umber, burnt sienna & viridian green. Feel free to pick any others you fancy -flesh tint paynes grey all fun favourites of mine - also love a rose red and magenta - but follow your own instinct • A set of acrylic brushes various sizes: large flats, small flats, square tapered fan and points (1,5,8 are all handy sizes; long or short handles depending on your preference).
