Service Description

This workshop is suitable for those aged 16+ In this two day workshop we will be looking at placing the clothed figure into surroundings. We will be drawing from a clothed model in a natural pose, using pencil or charcoal. Looking at the way the setting can contribute to a figure drawing, helping to create a more interesting composition. We will start by looking briefly at a few examples by artists of working in this way. Then we’ll look at composition by doing small thumbnails and considering negative space shapes. Then we will work on larger drawings, looking at proportions, weight, tone, and markmaking. Materials list: pencils 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B eraser and sharpener white cartridge paper A2 or A3 Willow charcoal, charcoal pencil, kneaded eraser
