Service Description
Thursday 21st April - Thursday 23rd June (10 weeks) Explore the potential of this most versatile of mediums for a richer creative experience. The course will look at brushwork, colour and paint in ways that reach beyond the limitations so often accepted for the medium. For those looking to take their practice forward, as well as those coming to watercolour for the first time. Working from photographs each week, the group will be lead through the process via a series of demonstrations. This course will be taught to a split studio to ensure social distancing criteria are met. Demonstrations and introductions will be given to the group as a whole. Students should bring the following materials each week. Boards, water pots, palettes and kitchen roll are provided. Materials List - White gouache - Brushes: round watercolour brushes No's 8 & 3 - Paper: A3 sheets/pad watercolour weight - HB pencil, pencil sharpener and rubber Watercolour Paints: - Winsor Violet or Dioxazine Purple - Pthalo Turquoise - Cadmium Orange - Prussian Blue - Cobalt Blue - Alizarin Crimson - Permanent Rose - Cadmium Red (pale) - Cadmium Lemon or Winsor & Newton "Winsor Lemon" (NB not Lemon Yellow (Nickel Titanate)) - Viridian (Hue) or Winsor and Newton "Winsor green- blue shade) - Burnt Sienna - Optional paints: Purple/Mauve, Orange, Turquoise Please read Covid-19 Guidelines page for information about studio-based classes.
