This workshop is suitable for those with some drawing or painting experience. This is an acrylic painting workshop. Working from a still life set up with fresh flowers in the studio, this two day workshop offers an opportunity to produce satisfying finished artworks. Students will begin with thumbnail sketches to gain insight into the importance of design and value in producing an eye-catching painting. On the first day of this workshop, we will begin with a little slideshow looking at the works of artists such as Matisse, Alberto Morocco and others., before going o to produce flat, decorative paintings. On the second day students will have the chance to develop their own style of painting the still life set up. We will encourage students to change spaces on the second day of the workshops to see things from another perspective. Materials - sketchbook/drawing paper - pencils, rubber, charcoal - acrylic paper, primed board or canvas if you prefer (any size the student feels comfortable using) - acrylic paints: a selection of colours that you may have, including cadmium red, alizarin crimson (or magenta), cadmium yellow, lemon yellow, cerulean blue, ultramarine, black and titanium white and optional permanent rose - brushes - palette (tear off palettes recommended) - rags There will be a lunch break of around 45 minutes each day, students are welcome to eat in the studio or pop out for something. Painting can be messy so you may want to consider wearing a painting shirt or apron.
