Service Description

This 2 day workshop is suitable for absolute beginners to the medium. Suitable for ages 16+. The student will learn about the properties of inks and how to use them creatively in their drawing. With plenty demonstrations in wet and dry technique and wet on wet technique you will be encouraged to apply this knowledge in a personal way and expand your own boundaries and surprise yourself. Through tutor led exercises and one to one guidance you will develop skills and perhaps a more open-minded approach to what drawing can be. Together, we will learn different methods of applying inks to the surface of the paper, be encouraged to test the effect of different mediums, layer the inks to get a painterly effect and explore the range of dynamic marks you can produce using a range of tools. Materials  A3 and A2 Thick white cartridge paper (140gsm)  A3 watercolour paper (Hot Pressed around 300gsm)  A small bottle of black Indian ink  A small bottle of white ink  A bottle of black Quink Ink  a small set of drawing inks (either acrylic or shellac based)  Mediums: sterilising tablets, gum Arabic, masking fluid, wax candle  a flat mixing palette such as a piece of flat plastic sheet  pencils - 2b and 4b  any water colour brushes you have  any other mark making tools for example -sponge, rag, old credit card, strips of cardboard, sticks, bamboo dip pens, cotton ear buds, cotton wool, scourer pad,
