Service Description

Tuesdays from 1pm Online 10 weeks from Tuesday 19th April to Tuesday 21st June This ten week online course is designed for adults who want to re-connect with their hidden talent: drawing is fun and ‘mistakes’ are encouraged! ​ The course is suitable for complete beginners or those who have had some previous experience and wish to enhance their skills. ​ With individual and group tuition, support and tutor demonstrations, these will be available by Zoom and e mail. The Zoom session will last around ​ We will start with basics, exploring various drawing techniques, mark making, developing personal styles and creative process from simple sketches, to creative compositions, definitive detail or abstraction. ​ You will be encouraged to embrace a range of approaches using various drawing materials and working on different paper surfaces. You can incorporate annotation, shapes, form and create textures while experimenting with various techniques and using a diverse range of media to build a portfolio of exciting drawings ​ Included in this course are an introduction to scale, proportion, perspective, composition, line and tone , sketching and observation techniques. Materials - We will be working initially with pencils and these will be used throughout the course so we recommend a set of drawing pencils (these come in different leads e.g.HB, H, 4B etc) - Cartridge paper (A3 cartridge pad is ideal) - Charcoal (these come in various forms from traditional willow sticks; to soft pastel or compressed) - Putty rubber / Eraser - Masking tape can be used to affix individual sheets of paper to a drawing board - Hairspray (unperfumed) works effectively as a fixative spray to stop drawings from smudging PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE IS ONLINE.
