Augusta Kirkwood

Augusta is an Edinburgh-based freelance illustrator who specialises in Children’s Book illustration and design. Her illustrations capture the innocence and playfulness of childhood and animal friends, whilst experimenting with textures and colours. With a keen sense of storytelling and love of tactile forms, Augusta is always delighted to find new ways to tell a story and bring text to life. Her illustration style welcomes a variety of techniques and materials including ink, acrylic, coloured pencils, and mono-printing – often combined together to create engaging images.

Augusta studied Illustration at the Edinburgh College of Art from 2013-2017 and then graduated with an MSc in Publishing with Distinction from Edinburgh Napier University in 2018. Since, Augusta has illustrated two picture books written by Pippa Goodhart and published by Little Door Books– Daddy Frog and the Moon and Happy Sad. She has enjoyed leading book events with these titles at The Edinburgh International Book Festival, Wigtown Book Festival, and the Borders Book Festival.
