Service Description

Over the weekend you will sculpt the portrait from the live model, over x4 2.5 hours each session. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who has sculpted befoere, and sculpted with our school before. The armatures, water based clay and tripods are provided by the school. The course takes place in our well lit north facing New Town studio on Great King Street. The course is intentionally designed to allow the student to not feel rushed and to really engage, feel immersed, and come away with a sense of really having accrued skills by the end of the course. Hector is from Perthshire originally and having grown up there, instilled for him a special appreciation of the shapes and forms of nature. Hector's path developed into an enduring love of art and especially of painting and sculpture. His desire to develop his art led him to the home of renaissance art, Florence Italy, and to the traditional atelier of Charles H Cecil studios, where he studied painting and sculpture. Hector’s sculptures offer a unique insight, blending natural and abstract forms. He seeks to explore the spaces beyond the rational, illuminating the unconscious worlds within our human condition. He sculpts in the traditional material of clay, which is then cast in either bronze or bronze resin. His teaching style is balanced and he strikes a good cord between the amount of critique, support and guidance he gives. Each day you will sculpt 10am - 12.30pm, break for lunch 12.30 - 1.30pm in our own garden if you wish or close by on Dundas Street, then sculpt again between 1.30 - 4pm. If you wish your bust to be fired it will be so at an additional cost of £50. If you wish it to be 3D printed to a smaller scale, you can privately arrange this with Hector. All materials are provided, but please do bring along your own sculpting tools such as this set: https://www.scarva.com/Mobile/en/Scarva-Tools-Sculpting-Tool-Kit/m-m-1155.aspx
