Service Description

This class is for students of all levels who want to dig into the process of painting a portrait from life. Over the 8 weeks, with a variety of models, we will start with the basics - the structure of the head and proportions of the features- and progress onto working with colour and tone, making an interesting composition and expressing mood. Materials List (Don’t worry if you don’t have absolutely everything!) • Oil paints: I use water soluble oils and recommend using them. There are a few brands – Duo, Cobra, and Artisan. - Large tube titanium white - Medium tubes: Cadmium yellow medium, Cadmium yellow light, Yellow ochre, Cadmium red medium, Cadmium red light, Alizarin crimson, Sap green, Ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, Burnt umber, Black (NB – cadmium are always more expensive so it’s fine to go with other reds and yellows!) • Brushes: a selection of brushes - bring what you have.
