Service Description
Day 1 The morning session will concentrate on getting used to looking and seeing the model-making quick studies and investigations to better understand the anatomy of facial features and the character of the model and getting used to using materials . In the afternoon, students will make a more ambitious portrait drawing in line and tone using basic drawing materials such as pencil, graphite and charcoal. The class will benefit from drawing from the same model all day on the first day. Day 2 On the second day of the course there will be the option of introducing colour into your work, using materials such as chalk and oil pastels, coloured pens and pencils or watercolour. There will be a long pose in the morning with a different (from previous day) model. In the afternoon, using the materials of your choice and what you have learned so far, students will finish by making a self-portrait. Working directly from the model to create a series of portrait drawings that capture likeness and character, whilst paying attention to facial anatomy and proportion. Students will explore various techniques and develop skills using basic drawing materials before moving on to include tonal range and colour. This 2 day course will culminate in students making a self-portrait drawing on the final afternoon. Materials Drawing paper-white cartridge paper sheets A2 or A3 Pencils-2B, 4B , 6B recommended Charcoal-willow and compressed Charcoal pencil Putty rubber Chalk pastels Inks and watercolour optional All materials provided by the Edinburgh Drawing School.
Cancellation Policy
We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a student is unable to attend a class due to illness, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstances with fair and reasonable consideration.
