This course is for students who have some experience of painting in oils, who may have completed a beginners course or workshop and would like to take it further! We will be developing brushwork and colour mixing, observing and identifying tonal values to create depth of field, light and shade, working with particular colour schemes and experimenting with rags, rollers, sponges and the palette knife. Subject matter will be varied- still life, landscape, the natural world and the human figure and students will progress toward developing their own personal style, interests and themes. We will be focusing on preparation, observation and interpretation-what to paint, why and how.
