Service Description
A discount of £40 per course applies if both courses are taken, totalling £80 discount (please contact the school) Join celebrated contemporary artist Jonathan Freemantle as he shares with you his deep and extensive knowledge of master painters through time. Each day you will be introduced to a new master artist’s work starting first at The National Gallery on The Mound at 10am. At 12pm you will walk back to Great King Street with Jonathan, enjoy your packed lunch in the garden before making your master copy in the afternoon in our wonderful north facing model room. While making a copy of one of these great works you will learn the unique methods and techniques of each painting, discovering how each artist approached - their - world of painting. You will be given step by step guidance to each painting method; so this course is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced artists wanting to add to their skill set. For students wishing to join both courses of Techniques of The Masters this summer school, you can receive a discount of £40 which we will refund back to you. These courses are incredibly popular so if you wish to sign up please do not hesitate! A reference image from The Edinburgh Drawing School's library will be provided for each class per student. Artists Looked at each week Day 1: Madonna of the Yarnwinder by Leonardo da Vinci Day 2: 'Olive trees' by Vincent Van Gogh Day 3: 'Natura Morta' by Giorgio Morandi Materials List - Painting panels, gesso primed white (can be thick card) 30x40cm and 40x50cm. - Oil paints. Basic colours. Titanium white, Payne’s grey, raw umber, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, sap green, Terrie verde, alizarin crimson, vermilion hue, lamp black. - Acrylic paint (black, white, dark brown) - Boiled linseed oil - Zest it - Brushes (mostly hog, flat and some round)
Cancellation Policy
We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a tutor has to withdraw from teaching the scheduled course for any reason (medical/personal/professional) before the start of a scheduled course, during a scheduled course, if the course is 8 weeks long or scheduled as x3 terms of 8 weeks long each, The Edinburgh Drawing School will find a replacement tutor for the course designed by that tutor for The Edinburgh Drawing School. The course content will be the same as the originally booked course. A student will not be entitled to a refund should the school have no option but to find a replacement tutor. If a tutor leaves and starts work elsewhere, and a student prefers to take classes with them personally at the tutor's new workplace, that is at the discretion of the student and no refund is entitled to them or will be given. If a student is unable to attend a class due to medical/personal/professional reasons, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstance
