Pricing Plans for Single Courses
For those of you where split payments would be helpful....
EDS now offers membership (suited to all core subject classes) and pricing plans for any single course. If you do choose to become a member, you are laying out and choosing your art journey for the year ahead whilst supporting the work of the tutors and school as a business.
You may choose three or more courses from any of the three 8 week terms, and in doing so recieve first choice of courses in the first week that bookings open. (We are also hard at work thinking of what lovely little art material bundle or fancy EDS painting apron we may also be making up for members!) We are tremendously grateful to those who sign up as a member, as in doing so you support the future and running of EDS.
Please contact the school to arrange your membership or pricing plan.

In becoming a member, this is the special art school you are supporting below...

The Edinburgh Drawing School was founded in March 2012. The school grew out of a concern that many of the art schools in Scotland were seeing their traditional skill-base decline, with the reduction or even removal of drawing, particularly life-drawing, from the curriculum of fine art courses.
Knowing how many people, from art students and experienced artists to the art buying public, lamented this fact, it was clear there was a need for a return to the classical model of drawing, where time is taken to teach skills in media, technique, proportion, composition and so forth, and so the school was founded to offer this to students of all ages and abilities.
In January 2025, Fiona, founder of E.D.S. now busy at The Torrance Gallery, passed on the baton to Alicia Coombs, who had managed the school from late 2022. Alicia, being a classically trained artist and graduate of The Florence Academy of Art, with a background in customer service and team coordination, was the perfect fit to bring EDS on into it's next chapter, ensuring excellence in tuition and classes across the school. It is a wonderful sight to see EDS in it's evolution over the years and still here after the global pandemic.
No qualification or experience is needed to come to our classes; we aim to appeal to both absolute beginners looking to take their first steps into drawing, and to professional artists who can learn new skills from any of our tutors. Thus, the School offers a wonderful, creative and inspiring environment where artists of all abilities can mix, taking encouragement from not just the tutor but from each other!
All classes are taught by working, established artists, and we use experienced and professional life & portrait models. Having focused initially on life drawing, the range of classes offered has grown with demand and the timetable now covers oil painting, materials production, landscape, still life, floral and portrait subjects, as well as wedding & corporate sessions and incredible, immersive art retreats.
