Service Description

A week of painting with Ewan McClure, in collaboration with The Edinburgh Drawing School, at Auchencairn House, Dumfries and Galloway. Join renowned artist Ewan McClure for 5 days of painting, immersed in the beautiful surroundings of Auchencairn House, where you will paint to your heart’s content, bask in the sun, swim in the sea, enjoy amazing food and sleep in gorgeous period rooms. Every evening Sue Gilroy of Auchencairn, will make a delicious dinner, where all guests are joined by their mutual love of painting and the experiences they have shared. Equally, it is also possible to take yourself off at any point for some quieter time or reflection in nature. Auchencairn House is a gem, nestled into the bay with stunning views across the Solway Firth, surrounded by a beautiful garden, rolling lawns and cliff top views. The Balcary Bay Hotel is within walkable distance to take a drink while watching the sun go down...or coming up! The choice is endless of where to paint. 5 locations over the 5 days will be planned between coastal scenes, the garden and surrounding area, after a hearty breakfast. Each day a break will be taken and lunch provided before painting again in the afternoon. After the end of the day, the house guests will enjoy dinner in the dining room at Auchencairn. At any point during the week, additional activities to painting (priced separately) such as fishing, golf and horse riding are available upon request to Sue Gilroy. Another additional activity would be to take a day trip to the Artist's town of Kirkcudbright, with Kirkcudbright Art Tours. The Tour is light hearted and covers links to The Glasgow Boys and Girls plus literary, historical and other points of interest. Cancellation Policy

We will provide a 50% refund if you give written advance notice up to 30 days before the course start date. 0% refund 30 days before a course starts. Please note there is an administration fee of £5 payable in respect of such refunds to cover payment processing fees. You will need to inform a member of administration staff in writing by emailing EDS at info@edinburghdrawingschool.co.uk. Additionally, if you withdraw for any reason after the course has started you will not be entitled to a refund. We are a small business and we depend on every booking to ensure that classes can go ahead. If a student is unable to attend a class due to illness, then EDS must be informed immediately so that the tutor can be notified. If you are missing a class because you suspect that you have developed Covid-19, please let us know immediately so that we can alert fellow student and tutors. Non-attendance of classes/workshops does not automatically mean a refund, however EDS will assess the circumstances with fair and reasonable consideration.
