If you prefer a shorter lunch break you may also use the studio for sketching during this time. 2.30 - 5.30pm Sculpting Over two days you will sculpt the portrait from the live model over 12 hours allowing you adequate time to really explore the forms and shapes in front of you, as well as attempt to achieve a likeness. This course is suitable for anyone with any proficiency in sculpting, but who would like to identify the portrait in tactile 3 dimension. This course is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those who have sculpted before and with us. The workshop is intentionally designed over two days, to allow the student to not feel rushed and to really engage, feel immersed, and come away with a sense of really having learned a skill by the second day. Hector has a special appreciation of the shapes and forms of nature. This developed into an enduring love of art and especially of painting and sculpture. His desire to develop his art led him to the home of renaissance art, Florence Italy, and to the traditional atelier of Charles H Cecil studios, where he studied painting and sculpture. Hector’s sculptures offer a unique insight, blending natural and abstract forms. He seeks to explore the spaces beyond the rational, illuminating the unconscious worlds within our human condition. He sculpts in the traditional material of clay, which is then cast in either bronze or bronze resin. This year in 2025, Hector has recieved his first public royal commision for the City of Edinburgh of Queen Elizabeth, and is now currently working on a sculpture of Nelson Mandela for Mandela Square in Glasgow. Watching his career develop and unfold is wonderful to see... Come join us after Christmas and New Year, to sculpt with a master sculptor, and a very approachable patient one at that! Your finished portrait busts can be taken home with you, and they will dry out at home to be kept indoors, or, for an additional sum paid directly to Hector, have your portraits 3D printed to be collected at a later date in addition to your original work.
