Service Description
Monday 20th July to Monday 24th August 5 weeks Master + 1 week Personal Study Zoom + Padlet, instructions sent to participants upon signing up. In this course, we will discover the beauty of watercolour through figures immersed in their surrounding landscape, by looking over 6 weeks 2 wonderful works by Sir William Russel Flint and 3 by John Singer Sargent, before finally making our own unique and original artwork over the last week of the course. By practising and learning from these 2 master artists, we will approach our own work with inspiration and fluency, having developed brushwork and fluency of application. Kelly Zou is a highly skilled tutor and watercolorist, it usually being her medium of choice in her own practice. Kelly will guide you step by step and paint alongside you online each week, as you study: Week 1) Springtime in the Ardeche by Sir William Russell Flint Week 2) Secret Retreat by Sir William Russell Flint Week 3) Detail from 'The Lesson' by John Singer Sargent Week 4) Man and Pool Florida, 1917, by John Singer Sargent Week 5) The Lady with the Umbrella John Singer Sargent Week 6) Personal Study Materials - If you are travelling a portable set of watercolours will be great, but of you are at home tubes on a ceramic dish may work well for attaining more vibrant fresh colours. - A set of watercolour brushes - A pad of cold press (NOT) watercolour paper, Bockingford or Fabriano Artistico, we recommend A3, but you will also be ok with a smaller watercolour sketchbook if you find yourself travelling abroad. Lessons will be screen recorded and sent to participants to work in their own time if they miss a set lesson time for any reason.
